Wildlife rangers

These rangers make a huge difference to protect the Lower Zambezi National Park and wildlife populations. During my time with Conservation Lower Zambezi I was lucky enough to meet the rangers and photograph them.

Illegal activities such as poaching, bushmeat hunting and illegal deforestation remain a constant threat.
Also dogs are trained to detect illegal wildlife products and track down suspects. They can recognize scents such as ammunition, ivory, rhino horn and bush meat. By training local village dogs they are more resilient to local diseases and the environment.
